[RightWire] Superman Renounces U.S. Citizenship?

In the 900th issue of the comic strip created in 1938, Superman renounces his American citizenship. Superman declares, "I intend to speak before the United Nations tomorrow and inform them that I am renouncing my U.S. citizenship…I'm tired of having my actions construed as instruments of U.S. policy." If his actions are misunderstood, why doesn't he explain himself, rather than pouting? That doesn't sound like the Man of Steel. It sounds more like the Man of Plastic − softer and more susceptible to pressure.

As if this weren't enough, Superman adds, "Truth, justice, and the American way − it's not enough anymore." Really? Enough for what? A U.N. that knows only how to shuffle papers and appoint bloodthirsty tyrannies like Syria to the "Human Rights" Council? Enough for whom? Globalists who owe allegiance to nothing but their own wealth and power? A president who sees nothing exceptional about the nation that saw something exceptional in him?

Apparently what Superman objects to is the American way, and not truth or justice. But these qualities are related. If we substitute leftism for the American way, truth and justice are also in jeopardy.

For truth, leftists substitute politically correct speech. We can't even mention the fact that most terrorism today is committed by extremist Muslims. To hear the leftist media tell it, we should be equally concerned with Orthodox Jews with beards and black hats, and with Evangelicals coming from Bible-study classes. Leftists value their agenda over truth. Or rather, they believe that truth is whatever furthers their agenda....News Item

[RightWire] Will Bin Laden's Death Affect the 2012 Republican Primary?

The United States has finally eliminated its hated enemy, Osama bin Laden. How will this affect the race for the Republican nomination? While the news will dominate the headlines for awhile, Bin Laden's death is unlikely to make a difference in the kind of candidate the Republican primary voters select.

For a number of years, the conventional wisdom has been that the economy is likely to be the focus of the 2012 election. The Al Qaeda leader's death would tend to make it all the more probable that the focus will not be on national security or foreign policy--if it has any effect. The winding down of the War on Terror means the economy would remain unchallenged as voters' chief concern.

It's possible, of course, that Bin Laden's death may lead to renewed pressure on Obama to withdraw troops from Afghanistan. If Obama does so, there may be negative ramifications which renew the debate over America's foreign policy.....

[RightWire] So We Caught Osama Bin Laden. Does That Matter?

Right now I'm listening to CBS coverage of the death and recovery of Osama Bin Laden. One of the talking heads just mentioned that "this is huge" and said this closes "a chapter in the war on terror."

Bin Laden's demise is welcome news, for sure. I say that as a New Yorker, and also as someone who lost a family member in 9/11. But is it really "huge"? In the scope of global Islamic terror, does the death of Osama Bin Laden really matter?

Al Qaeda isn't like a family business - it's a worldwide movement, that's spawned countless autonomous, operationally independent spinoff groups, whose only ties to Al Qaeda are ideological. The Muslim Brotherhood is taking over Egypt. Al Qaeda allied rebel troops are being supported by NATO in Libya. The left's "good" war in Afghanistan has become a bloodbath. Muslim terrorism has stretched from Indonesia and the Phillipines, to North Africa, Europe, and even America. It's now commonplace to read about "honor killings" and we even have US Senators, like Lindsey Graham, suggesting we limit freedom of speech so as not to inflame Muslim sensibilities.

I don't know that Osama Bin Laden's death means much at all to the United States, and even less to our fight against creeping sharia and a culture of capitulation of Muslim fanaticism.

It might mean something to the radical Muslims, though. They can always use a martyr to advance their cause.

[RightWire] Media Ignores Jesse Jackson Gay Harassment Suit

On April 15, The Chicago Sun-Times reported on its Web site, "Jesse Jackson denies gay worker's harassment, discrimination claims." The article began:

A spokesman for the Rev. Jesse Jackson on Thursday denied a claim from a man who says he was fired from the civil rights leader's Rainbow PUSH Coalition because he is gay.

Tommy R. Bennett filed a complaint with the city of Chicago's Commission on Human Relations last year, alleging Jackson fired him unjustly and that the civil rights leader forced him to perform "uncomfortable" tasks, including escorting various women to hotel rooms to meet Jackson for sex.

The piece ended noting that a gay publication, The Windy City Times, had reported Bennett's allegations earlier in the week. The Windy City Times story included more salacious details, such as the complainant's charge that Jackson directed him to apply cream to a rash between Jackson's legs; the minister told Bennett about one of his high school instructors, a gay man, who served as Jackson's teacher with benefits; and Bennett's allegation that Jackson wanted to have sex with the Rainbow Coalition employee....Gay Man Charges Jesse Jackson With Harassment and Discrimination: Most Media Mum | NewsBusters.org

[RightWire] Expert: Proof Obama's 'birth cert' document 'was changed'?

It was analyzed by Ivan Zatkovich of Tampa-basedeComp Consultants, which consults on intellectual property for telecommunications, web publishing and ecommerce and has provided services for corporations such as McGraw-Hill, Houghton-Mifflin, Citicorp and Amazon.com. Zatkovich has 28 years experience in computer science and document management and for more than 10 years has been an expert witness providing testimony in federal court in both criminal andcivil litigation.
He confirmed that the multiple layers of the PDF document are anomalous.
"When a paper document is scanned on a scanner and saved as aPDF fileit normally contains only a single layer of graphical information. The PDF that appears on the White House website however, contains multiple layers of graphic information. Multiple layers usually appear in a document like this when it is being edited or modified in some fashion.
"It is possible to take a single layer PDF and inadvertently create multiple layers, without changing the image in any fashion. But that does not appear to be the case here. The multiple layers in the PDF document are a result of changes made to the image," his report said......Online 'birth certificate' document 'was changed'

[RightWire] Obama's Eligibility: An Issue of Allegiance

by Jim Delaney, blogging at Opinerlog

reposted with permission of The Post and Email

If citizenship is bestowed by one's father, how can Obama be considered a "natural born Citizen" of the United States of America when his father was British?

(May 1, 2011) — Is the "silliness" over, as our thin-skinned and insufferably arrogant Obama characterized the BC issue last Wednesday? Yes. The "silliness" is over.

But, is the eligibility issue settled? Nope!

Why?

Without rehashing what should be–but clearly isn't–obvious to the dissembling press and to both Obama sycophants and defenders, the founders understood that for one to be a "natural born citizen", words which appear only in the Presidential Clause of the Constitution, one needs to have been born within the jurisdiction of the US (jus soli) AND AND AND be born of US citizen parents (jus sanguinis). At a minimum, to be a natural born citizen a person's father, from whom a person's nationality is derived (per E. Vattel's Law of Nations to which our framers subscribed) must have been a US citizen, this to preclude what the framers believed to be the awful prospect of a president with dual citizenship and loyalties.

His father was a Kenyan, a British subject, at the time of Barack's birth. Period.

So, assuming that the long form birth certificate FINALLY disclosed by the White House today is the real thing, and I have no reason to believe that it isn't, we've still only solved half the riddle.

In all the mealy-mouthed and deliberately mendacious MSM discussions about the elusive birth certificate, what has continually been lost in the cacophony is the central issue of "natural born citizenship." Like many others who had reasonable doubts about Obama's place of birth, I had always felt that even if he had been born on the White House balcony, his presidential eligibility remained in serious constitutional doubt. And so it does today. Nothing has really changed.

In my humble estimation, what Obama, aka Mr. Transparency, intended to pull off on Wednesday was a clever and cynical ploy to fatally undermine the credibility of the so-called "birthers," thus shutting down all further probes into his background (education, associations) which still remain shrouded in needless mystery and disturbing suspicion.

And one other lingering question which I'm sure few want to hear: did he legally lose his US citizenship when he was adopted by Lolo Soetoro in Indonesia? And if so, was his US citizenship properly restored upon his return to the USA? I still don't know the answer to this unsettling question. And until I do, this constitutional issue remains very much alive.

One interesting side note: all along, many detractors on the right (like Karl Rove, among others) speculated that Barry, the quintessential political thug that he is, would deliberately keep the birth certificate issue alive until he was able to divulge the certificate at a politically sensitive moment in his re-election campaign, this to utterly destroy the credibility of the birthers on the left, right and in the middle. Well, even Barry understood that this festering BC issue was weighing heavily against him, and he also knew that it was becoming increasingly more difficult to stop further probing unless he made a big show of disclosing his BC. Thus, his precipitous and haughty disclosure of his BC which he hopes will effectively end any further questions about his murky background and eligibility.

And you know what? Sadly enough, this strategy just might work. Enough Americans might actually believe that birthers are nothing more than pesky, wild-eyed conspiratorial theorists blinded by their loathing of Obama, his race and his leftist ideology, and that Obama's integrity and virtue have been unfairly sullied by these brigands. Well, he can hope that's what most Americans will believe. But, if I were he I wouldn't count on it.

[RightWire] STL Fed Stunner: Admits QE May Create MORE Unemployment

It's one thing for bloggers and even various non-mainstream economists to charge the Fed with pandering exclusively to Wall Street's interests, and accuse Ben Bernanke of hypocrisy when he says that the Fed's ultimate goal is the strengthening of the economy through a decrease in unemployment (recall that one of the original two mandates of the Fed is "maximum employment"... that is until it was supplanted by the third and only one: "Russell 2000 to 2000") and caring for "lower-income households." It is something far more serious when the one doing the accusing is... the Federal Reserve. In a seminal paper which we are convinced will make the rounds the next time the puppetmaster is undergoing his periodic grilling by Congressional and Senate critters, Yi Wen of the St. Louis Fed indicates that the entire experiment in increasing the adjusted monetary base by $2 trillion in 2 years is not only not benefiting the economy, but is in fact having an adverse impact on such key economic drivers as unemployment. To wit: "permanent increases in the monetary base foreshadow eventual increases in inflation that can increase, rather than reduce, unemployment over the long term." We wonder if Bernanke knew in advance that LSAP (aka QE2) had a statistically greater chance of resulting in greater unemployment, and thus more pain for the working class, and if the only offset, a doubling in the stock market when ever more capital is diverted from organic economic growth to pursuing speculative risk, was important enough for the Fed to effective replace its employment mandate with one of stock market manipulation?

Here is how the St. Louis Fed confirms that the Chairman is nothing but a puppet in the hands of Wall Street....St. Louis Fed Stunner: Admits QE May Lead To Rise Rather Than Drop In Unemployment | zero hedge

[RightWire] Sudden Silver Selloff: -9%; 3 Weird Things...

After last week's manic action, silver is falling out of the bed to start the new week, declining by over 9%.
A few quick thoughts on the weirdness:
  • Nobody really knows what's up. Querying around, nobody has any solid sense (yet) of what's driving the decline. There was no particular news that would seem to be feeding into this. Update: There's a little bit of chatter about the weak Chinese PMI report from this morning, but it doesn't seem that convincing or robust of an explanation. There's also talk about margin hiking (which has been going on forever).
  • Silver is a major standout. Gold isn't moving the same way. Other commodities are down a bit, and the dollar is up, but not on the same scale.
  • US futures remain higher. This is a big surprise, given how consistently silver has traded in the same direction as equities.

[RightWire] Blasphemy! Obama's Easy Academic Path...

Hmmm: Harvard Adopted Affirmative Action Policy For Law Review Well Before Obama Matriculated There: "When Barack H. Obama attended Harvard Law School, it was during a period when it was possible for him to get on Law Review with the least true academic achievement in the school's history (with stronger-form AA in effect), and also required the very lowest academic achievement in the school's history to get the magna honor (or any other honor); so much so that the school revolted against awarding these honors to virtually anyone who graduated and instituted a hard cap on the percentage of students receiving them.

No wonder he won't release the grades, and no wonder Harvard has them on lockdown."

[RightWire] Trump and the Hunt for Red Obama

American Thinker: Trump and the Hunt for Red Obama: "If you asked me, I'd say the internal polls respecting this issue and public trust of the White House must be awful and forced his revelation. And given that he and his Chicago press allies forced the unsealing of court records of two of his earlier opponents -- Jack Ryan and H. Blair Hull, with potentially harmful consequence to innocents, I regard the president's implicit claim to privacy one of particular chutzpah.

Nor should we accept his defense that he did this because the 'birthers' were proving a distraction. His own allies in the press, particularly MSNBC and CNN, were the folks who kept the issue alive in an effort -- pre Trump -- to embarrass his opponents and those who questioned his bona fides for office. [RightWire] Donald Trump "Honored" by Obama Insults

The Donald was not amused.

Donald Trump, who sat stonefaced as he was roasted unmercifully at the White House Correspondents Dinner, had little good to say Sunday about the shindig.

"The content I understand, but the amount of jokes? I was amazed at the number," Trump said.

He said he didn't think any of the jokes were particularly funny, but assumed the mockery Saturday night was a sign of his growing political clout.

"When you're leading the polls, I guess that's the one you shoot at," he said. "I was honored by the fact that they devoted most of their speeches to me."

President Obama and the headlining comedian, Saturday Night Live's Seth Meyers, sent up birth certificate conspiracies and unleashed a barrage of ridicule at Trump's hair, accent, ties, taste and TV show.

"I thought Seth's delivery was terrible. He had marbles in his mouth," Trump said. "His presentation was not good. The president was far superior."

Frequent C-Span cutaways to Trump, who was sitting at the Washington Post's table, showed the eccentrically-coiffed mogul never even pretended to be laughing along.

He stared straight at the stage, gimlet-eyed, as the ribbing mounted and his dining companions squirmed.

The whole thing "was so awkward that some folks at his table stopped laughing and applauding," according to Politico's Mike Allen.

The rest of the room, however, roared at each new joke.

"Donald Trump has been saying he will run for president as a Republican, which is surprising because I just assumed that he was running as a joke," Meyers said.

"Donald Trump often appears on Fox, which is ironic, because a fox often appears on Donald Trump's head."

In particular, Obama doubled over when Meyers theorized that Trump's comment about his "great relationship with the Blacks" must have been about a white family called the Blacks.

Trump said he thought the biggest laugh went to Obama's cartoon mock up of what the White House would look like if Trump won office: a garish pink neon sign advertising the "Trump White House: hotel, casino, golf course and Presidential Suite" with bikini babes frolicking in a hot tub on the north lawn and the stately portico columns repainted gold.

For the record, Trump said President The Donald would not be redecorating.

"We have much more important problems," he said.

[RightWire] Raise the Debt Ceiling? Hells No!

Back in March, Senator Marco Rubio of Florida penned a Wall Street Journal op-ed in which he said he would "vote to defeat an increase in the debt limit, unless it is the last one we ever authorize, and is accompanied by a plan for fundamental tax reform, an overhaul of our regulatory structure, a cut to discretionary spending, a balanced budget amendment, and reforms to save Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid."

On Friday, Sarah Palin said on Fox News, "Hells no, I would not vote to increase that debt ceiling. Otherwise it just shows the American people we're not serious yet. We're still going to incur more debt. No and we don't have to increase the debt ceiling in the next few weeks. It turns my stomach to hear this assumption articulated that 'well we have to,' despite the fact we're raking in, the federal government, six billion a day. Take that money and service our debt first and pay down some of that debt. Make sure that we're showing the international financial markets and our lenders that we're serious about getting our debt and our deficit problems under control."

[RightWire] Steyn: How the Fed is Accelerating Our Collapse

The other day Paul O'Neill said that . . .

Oh, wait. I suppose I ought to explain who Paul O'Neill is. A decade ago, he was President Bush's first Treasury secretary. I have no very clear memory of him except that he toured Africa with Bono and they were photographed in matching tribal dress looking like Colonel Qaddafi's Mini-Me twins at a Tripoli sleepover. Other than the dress-up fun, I've no idea why they were in Africa, but you paid for it, so I'm sure there was a good reason.

Anyway, Secretary O'Neill popped up the other day on Bloomberg Television to compare debt-ceiling holdouts to jihadists. "The people who are threatening not to pass the debt ceiling," he said, "are our version of al-Qaeda terrorists. Really."....Discredited - Mark Steyn - National Review Online

[RightWire] Honoring Sacrifice: Thousands Show for Vietnam Hero's Return

CONCORD — You can only speculate about the last moments of a Vietnam soldier killed in action. Imagine the choking clouds of dust followed by a heavy pattering of rain, those adrenaline-filled heartbeats of a soldier, ready to do what his country asked him to.

Imagine that soldier, fingering a lucky Zippo lighter in his pocket, another touching a cross nestled around his neck, all of them checking their weapons.

They take fire, three don't make it out.

Things similar to these may have happened during the last moments of Sgt. First Class Donald "Donnie" Monroe Shue. Shue, an Army Green Beret, was serving with two others when they went missing on a mission Nov. 3, 1969. Shue, Staff Sgt. William Brown and Staff Sgt. Gunther Wald were last seen wounded 30 miles inside Laos, near Ban Chakevy Tai in Saravane Province. According to military documents, Shue and the other two men — as well as several men who escaped — were attached to a unit performing highly classified maneuvers throughout Southeast Asia.

The family was notified and Shue was listed as missing in action. On Jan. 15, 1979, he was classified as killed in action, and a military marker was put above an empty grave at Carolina Memorial Park.

Saturday, Shue finally came home.

His remains were found after lines in Southeast Asia were redrawn and the location where Shue, Brown and Wald were last seen was shifted to Vietnam's control. The U.S. sent a recovery team into the area. According to military records, the team found a Zippo lighter with Shue's name engraved on it in the remains of the three men, discovered on a farm. The men were found two years ago.

Saturday, Shue made his way slowly from Charlotte-Douglas International Airport behind a procession of police officers, motorcyclists and military escorts. Behind him, the family cars, followed by nine miles of motorcyclists — members of the Patriot Guard, Rolling Thunder, Ghost Riders and more.....Thousands fill streets for return of soldier's body | Salisbury, NC - Salisbury Post

[RightWire] Dem Congressman Concedes Palin's Right on Oil

One of the most interesting points that Governor Palin brought up in her interview with Brett Baier last Friday was that Obama's proposal to decrease or eliminate the $4 billion in subsidies for oil and gas companies would negatively impact independent oil producers and explorers rather than Big Oil. It was interesting because I haven't heard any other high-profile Republican articulate that one of the reasons why we shouldn't just go along with Obama's proposal to end the oil subsidies is because independent and smaller oil companies, rather than Big Oil, will be hurt if these subsidies are taken away. Quite frankly, Brett Baier missed an opportunity to go deeper into this issue during his interview with the Governor as she may have just come up with the best argument our side can use to fight Obama's proposal to take away the $4 billion in subsidies.

One of the reasons why other Republicans haven't used Governor Palin's argument is that they simply do not understand the oil and gas industry. They don't have the same level of experience that Governor Palin does in dealing with oil companies and probably don't comprehend that tax incentives and subsidies don't impact all oil and gas companies the same way. Unlike Governor Palin, hacks like Romney and Pawlenty, con-men like Trump and Huckabee, and space cadets like Bachmann have been unable to explain how the oil industry works in a way that goes beyond trite and tired talking points.

Today, Democrat Martin Frost effectively conceded that Palin's analysis of the oil industry was correct. Here's the video courtesy of PalinTV (transcript included with emphasis added). Smart Republicans will start using the argument that Governor Palin introduced during her interview with Baier about the deleterious impact that eliminating such subsidies will have on independent oil and gas producers. Please help us spread the youtube video and this post as the liberal media and certain elements of the conservative media will try their best to ignore what we have presented.

[RightWire] Donald Trump Is a Big Effing Deal

Did you happen to catch Chris Rock's performance in Vegas on April 28? I'm not generally comfortable with revealing my guilty pleasures to the world, but I have to admit that the guy cracks me up. Of course, it's not the sort of entertainment I'd care to share with the younger members of my extended family given the raw language and lack of genteel social sensibilities on display, but there's no denying that the man is a hoot.

Oh, wait. I'm sorry. That wasn't Chris Rock. It was Donald Trump.

"We build a school, we build a road…" [overseas] "they blow them up, we build again, in the meantime we can't get a f***ing school in Brooklyn."

How to deal with China? "Listen you motherf***rs we're going to tax you 25 percent!"

So it wasn't a stand-up comedy act — at least not an intentional one. No, it was something much, much better. With his former campaign platform of demanding to see President Obama's birth certificate effectively having had its legs kicked out from under it, the Donald clearly needed to rebrand his advertising strategy. And on one sultry night in Sin City he did precisely that, managing to tap into precisely what America has been looking for.....Pajamas Media » Donald Trump Is a Big Effing Deal

Rosemary Brown is standing over the grave of her son at Arlington National Cemetery when someone catches her eye. It's a boy in khaki shorts and muddy shoes, juggling a clunky camera and the Motorola Xoom he got for his 17th birthday five days earlier.

"May I ask what you're doing?" Brown inquires. The boy begins to peck at the Xoom tablet, and in seconds the image that Brown has come all the way from Cartwright, Okla., to see fills the screen. It's the white marble headstone of Army Special Forces Staff Sgt. Jason L. Brown, killed by small-arms fire in Afghanistan three years ago this day. Her face brightens.

"Most of Jason's family and friends are in Oklahoma and Texas. For them to be able to see his grave…," she says, her voice breaking.

Long after blacks and Jews have made great strides, and even as homosexuals gain respect, acceptance and new rights, there is still a group that lots of Americans just don't like much: atheists. Those who don't believe in God are widely considered to be immoral, wicked and angry. They can't join the Boy Scouts. Atheist soldiers are rated potentially deficient when they do not score as sufficiently "spiritual" in military psychological evaluations. Surveys find that most Americans refuse or are reluctant to marry or vote for nontheists; in other words, nonbelievers are one minority still commonly denied in practical terms the right to assume office despite the constitutional ban on religious tests.

Rarely denounced by the mainstream, this stunning anti-atheist discrimination is egged on by Christian conservatives who stridently — and uncivilly — declare that the lack of godly faith is detrimental to society, rendering nonbelievers intrinsically suspect and second-class citizens....Why do Americans still dislike atheists? - The Washington Post

[RightWire] Obama Sr. did not list Obama II as his child on Aug, 31, 1962: FOIA

I mean, here's the immigration file. You can see for yourself. Does this mean little Barry wasn't his son? No, not really. But it DOES mean that Barry's daddy was a self-centered jackass and, like everything else about Obama's past, it's murky, shadowy, and unclear. Like father, like son.
